It has multiple positive uses for your glove that will not only keep it at tup-top playing shape, but also last as long as possible. What Baseball Glove OIl should you buy
There are several different oils, or substances, that have been used to treat baseball clubs such as:
- Saddle Soap
- Tanners Glove Oil
- Vaseline
- Shaving Cream
- Neatsfoot Oil ( Used by Pro's from 1900-1980)
But we have several better solutions in this modern day that are fixed and mastered to treat baseball or softball gloves. These products can be found here to the right sold by Amazon. I have personally tried and successfully used gloves treated by all of these oils in games.

How to apply your Glove OIl
Now that you have your glove oil, we need to make sure we use it on our gloves the right way. People have different preferences on how you can best utilize your new oil, but this has been my proven process in 3 easy steps.
- Put your glove on your glove hand as if you were going to use it and lather the oil in the main pocket of the glove.
- With your free hand smooth out the oil to as many parts of the inside of your glove as you can and rub until you can no longer see or feel the oil in your glove.
- Now put some extra glove oil on the ends of the pinky and thumb sides of your glove and rub it into until you can no longer see it.
Try to repeat this process about 8-9 times a week for the first 2 weeks of owning your glove.
- No more then twice in one day!
After the first two weeks start using it as needed. When you see that your glove is getting too loose or when you start to see weakened leather, it's time for another dose.
Things to avoid with Baseball Glove Oil
Your baseball Glove Oil can be your best friend, unless it is used incorrectly.. Your baseball glove oil is not designed to be overused or used in the improper fraction. Here are a list of things you will want to avoid whilst using your new glove oil.
- Only use it on Leather Gloves! - It is only designed for leather and will simply rub off of any plastic or other materials
- Do not use more than twice a day! - It must be given 8-9 hours to dry or you will ruin your glove by making it either too heavy or too wet. Or even making it fall apart in extreme cases.
- Only Use it on Baseball or Softball Gloves! - The items above are deigned distinctly for athletic gloves and will not give the same result for other leather items.
To ensue that your glove will reach maximum performance consider wrapping it up in a softball or baseball when you store it away to build the pocket. If you have any questions or comments feel free to leave them below!

Nicely written, and very informative. Looking forward to reading more, as this is very relevant for my son.
Great information above. I have tried many ways to try and break in my glove and many conditioners/oils as well. Check out my site for more information on how to break in your new baseball glove and more conditioners/oils to use to make the best out of your new glove. http://www.baseball-gloveoil.com
Another form of conditioner that I think is best and I now use for my gloves is called Leather CPR. It's a leather conditioner/cleaner. I think it workds great and have not seen any other site mention it.
Thanks for the information on your site. Good Tips!
